From July 29-August 5, 2017 I organized a trip to Guatemala with the nonprofit organization Worthy Village to supply several families with Sawyer water filtration systems as well as to teach health and hygiene.

Today the group met at Logan International Airport in Boston at 3 AM, two hours before our flight departure at 5 AM. We had a stop at George Bush Intercontinental Aiport in Houston, Texas. Once we arrived to Guatemala City we took a four hour bus ride to La Riviera in Panajachel, where we would be staying for the week. As a group we had dinner together at Guajimbos in Panajachel.

Today we had an introduction meeting for the group at 10 AM and then went to the market Panajachel to buy food for breakfast and lunch for the week. Bringing a group of sixteen to the market was extremely hectic because all of the locals bring their different fruits and vegetables to sell in one collective area. Sunday is also the busiest day for the market and is the day that Guatemalans typically go out to shop for groceries. Later in the afternoon, many of the group went zip lining and then ended the night with a group dinner.

Overall the trip went well. We supplied several families with water filtration systems and taught basic health and hygiene.
